Default Australia Is Region B For Blu-ray And Region 4 For DVD.

My Question Is This Why Not Make All Region B Blu-ray Countrys The Same For DVD It Would Make Life A Lot More Easy For People With Australian DVDS. Better Still Why Not Make The PS3 DVD Region Free.
P.S After All 75% Of Blu-Ray Is Region Free So Why Not DVD As Well.

Sony cannot make the DVD aspect of the PS3 region free because it would be breaking a forum rule. They would be punished by the highest order of the DVD forum.

Region coding for Blu ray was Sony's idea (AFIAK) and I welcome it. It means I only need two players for worldwide compatibility (that I care about).

DVD has 5 region codes. BD only has 3 region codes.

My country is region 3 for DVD but region A for BD. Discs are not mandatory to have region codes, but players are.

If PS3 is region free, that will defeat the purpose of having region coding, so why bother.
