Default The Expendables Review Thread (Spoilers)

This February Sylvester Stallone will start directing a new action flick called The Expendables. It will star Jason Statham and Jet Li - who have worked together previously. The movie is about a team of mercenaries on a mission to overthrow a South American dictator.

I love the idea of this movie. Sounds like another throwback to those great, violent 80s action movies.

I'm a fan of Stallone for the most part. I enjoy his stuff. Is he going to star as well?

I'm not sure since the article doesn't say. If he is, then I'm going on opening night

I hope Jason and Jet can do a better job then in War, I wasn't too thrilled with that movie.

Statham and Li, have already done The One and War, two films I absolutely hated, though I understand a lot of folks liked them. Now throwing Stallone into the mix is my WTF moment. He doesn't have anything to do with these guys, I don't see how they would mix in any capacity, shape or form, am I the only one not seeing this work?

I think I read that he's writing, directing, and starring (great combination).

Sounds like a possibility for a good movie. I like Sly and Jason Stathom, but lately, Stathom's movies have kind of sucked. Hopefully This and Transporter 3 will rock

I too used to enjoy Statham's work, but now he just plays the exact same character with no real distinguishing difference in any of them, I hope he starts to put more range into his characters.

The Bank job was a little different. He was really good in that one.

It seems as though he was going in the direction of Van Damme and Seagal. But you should rent Bank Job and check it out. He has the talent, but seems to pick the same thing over and over.

That is probably one of their worst movies. I am sure that The Expendables will be good. Should be lots of mindless fun.

Sounds like he's taking Inglorious Bastards and is just changing the setting.

So they are working on getting Forest Whitaker and they are close to signing Dolph Lundgren

Stallone wrote and directed Rambo and almost everyone on this site thought it was the next best thing since sliced bread. Not sure why there's any concern over this movie.

As long as he gets a decent fight choreographer and a half decent screenplay, it should be alright.

I will not see it until I get someone to tell me there was good fight scenes in it, because I was so let down by WAR that I do not want to see another movie with 2 martial artists in it.

It's supposed to be PG-13, that's why I'm leery. A movie like this should have over the top blood and guts and violence...like Rambo.
