The Killer Inside Me

Michael Winterbottom (24 Hour Party People, A Mighty Heart) will direct an adaptation of Jim Thompson's classic noir novel The Killer Inside Me with Casey Affleck and Jessica Alba set to star. The story follows a West Texas sheriff named Lou Ford, played by Affleck, and his downward spiral from a boring small-town cop into a ruthless, sociopathic murderer. Alba plays a prostitute that he gets involved with. The book was first published in 1952 and was actually made into a film in 1976 that starred Stacy Keach. The adaptation was penned by Robert Weinbach and John Curran (Down Rusty Down).

No matter the news, I always have to report on Casey Affleck because I love the guy and I'm always excited for every film he's in. He's a phenomenal up-and-coming actor, as was proven by both Gone Baby Gone and Assassination of Jesse James last year. I'm hoping he'll continue giving incredible performances, no matter the budget or story. While The Killer Inside Me is not anything I'm immediately too excited about, I'm interested to see Affleck's take on the schizophrenic character as well as Alba's turn as a prostitute.
