Default Have You Seen This Ent. Center?

I had a guy e-mail me this picture to see if I could build something like it for him. Has anyone seen this anywhere? I'd be interested to see how they handled the wiring. I've got an idea on how to do the shelving, even how to hang it. But the wiring's got me stumped. It doesn't look like something from a furniture store, I'm thinking a custom built unit. Anyways he can't remember where he found it so I was hoping someone here may have seen it while surfing.

looks like it's just as good as putting shelves directly to the wall and wiring through the wall.

That center speaker is really high, though. You would probably want to rearrange the shelf locations for better placement.

I agree, maybe if it was a different color to match the wall. Or even just add shelving similar to that and keep the color of the wall

If I build this, the guy wants it done in gloss black laminate, which is a pain to work with. My only concern though was building it where the electrical followed code. I know you can't have joints without easy access, and you cant have the cords in the wall. So the only thing I can come up with is to cut out the sheetrock behind the unit and frame it in, creating a pass through. Or I could build it so a plug is behind each device right above the shelf.

I agree whole-heartedly... that center speaker is not only poorly place on the hearing plane, it also is aimed straight ahead overtop of the viewer. If the speaker is being placed that high, it had better be mounted to the wall with some type of adjustable pivoting arm so as to properly aim the speaker focal point. The FL and FR speakers are also too close to the TV in my opinion. That eliminates the overall 3D quality to the audio experience... especially with, what looks like, those HTIB speakers.

Personally, I think it's a dreadfully ugly setup... aside from the shelves for the equipment. That 's a pretty cool idea.

Could it not be hinged like a door? I think that could be cool so there would be very easy access to the rear of the unit. Another thought is to cut out the back panel and have the devices recess into the back by a half inch or so in order to really hide the cabling.
