They're in stock everywhere. My local frys had 200+ of them laying around. Local best buy got 250 of them a week ago and sold only 13 of them.

The Wii console is no longer a hard-to-get-item. I see them in many stores here on Long Island. What I do not know is how available the Wii Fit balance board is. I have one, but know people who want it and cannot find it.

The last time I stepped into my local Fry's they had dozen of Wii/Wii Fit/accessories bundles for ~$350 each sitting on a pallet.

Yeah when I was in BB a few weeks ago they had all three consoles piled to the ceiling (slight exaggeration). There were literally 100 Wiis and nobody was rushing to buy one. That's not gonna happen over the holidays though, it will still dominate.

With the bad economy, the first sector to die out is casual gaming. You can never count on those people to purchase a system thats pretty much a board game (where you play it every once in a while) in times of economic turmoil. The hardcore will always be there however. So hopefully wii sales plummet and iwata gets stabbed, and then the president of square enix gets hit in a drive-by. That would make the world right again.

Quite wishful thinking there. I think the video games sector will do fairly well this season. Stocks and sales records have proved to be pretty decent given the current situation. Spending will be cut back, but I don't expect anything too hard to hit the video games sector. It will not have a record year either though (like last year)

I dont know gaming might do just fine in this economy I mean for a ex: I did nothing this weekend except play gears of war 2 yeah that game cost me 60 bucks but if I would have went to a bar or see a movie it would have cost me the same amount or more so I think people will be playing video games more then going out

As i said, hardcore gaming will be fine. Its the casuals that will disappear.

I think it's still funny that the Attach rate of the PS3 almost pass the one of the wii even if they are 2.5 times more console in people homes... That's tell you a lot. In 2009 the software attach rate of the Wii will probably fall into 3rd position. Unless they release a super new IMAGINATIVE.. Mario, Zelda, Metroid game (sarcasm here)

There is a rumor at my Best Buy that about 75% of US Wii shipments are heading to Best Buy's for the holidays. MY store is a high revenue store yet we still have plenty of Wii's in stock and still coming every week. We haven't been short of Wii's in weeks. Before that we either rarely had them or stashed some for sundays when advertised.

Funny that you have shortage issues with the Wii. Over here I always see it in stock whenever I go downtown for a tour of stores.

Wii is in stock everywhere. Because of that, people will stop making impulse purchases. Hopefully no one buys it and it dies into oblivion (and i own 2 wiis, garbage system).

Cool

Bought a Wii for the family and wife picked up Wii fit. Everything is collecting dust. Even my 3 yr old son realizes its just a gimmicky system, and he and I spend our spare time on the PS3. Umm, I just want to sit on the couch and play a game, thanks. Pissed money away there.
