Any news on a UK release date for this?

It seems there is a hard to find German release with an Amazon.com price of about £90

I read the book many years ago but I missed the movie when it was in cinemas. I wonder how faithful to the book this one was ?

If you go to Amazon.de (the German Site) its listed as about 30 Euros

Hmmm, still works out at £30, a lot better though, just not in a position to spend that on a film at the moment.

Shame there is no UK date.

Why does Germany seem to get a lot more releases than the UK?

The movie follows the book very closely. There are some characters cut out, but other than that, it's a very good adaptation. You won't be disappointed.

Difficult to be entirely faithful to the book given the nature of the narrative, but the film does a very good job of interpretting the novel to the screen.

i love this movie. reviving a very old thread aparently, but i am trying to get ahold of this and order it from amazon.de and have no idea what it says. any advice?

Actually that site says it's region free as does this one

If you are to order from them I think they have a fixed price to ship so you should get a few titles or get some for others at the same time and split your shipping costs. Just an idea.

The German release is region free and looks wonderful although I ended up hating the film (too mysogynic). I'm in the US if anyone wants to purchase it from me just PM me...

Hey, I saw the film and it's very close to Suskin's book, I was impressed by the film as much as I was when first reading the book. Check it out. Hopefully Paramount get's off it's lazy arse and releases it soon. It will definitely be a part of my collection.
