Argh! Dumb Ultimate Electronics Commercial - Blu-ray Forum

Driving to work today and a UE commercial comes on.

This CEO (gosh, you'd think he'd know better) starts talking about this format called "Blu-ray DVD," (Is this some compromise the BDA and Toshiba made?)

Anyways, he starts going on about how Ultimate Electronics shops CC and BBY so you get the best price and due to falling prices you can now pick up your new Blu-ray DVD player for less than $250

at UE.

This company has fail all over it, I really don't like them, anybody else agree? I have never been there and gotten more than average service, they don't have that great of a selection and they are overpriced.

They have the worst web site as well. NO PRICES!

I know they shop for the latest and best price, but still. I'm sure they lose alot of business this way. They do with me.

I have meet a lot of CEO & presidents & vice presidents over the years and believe me, most of them would not be able tie their own shoe laces without some sort of written instructions. There are very few of them of have a clue when they are talking, they come and go and the company stay until some of them are so either dumb or so corrupt that they finaly pull the company down

UE almost died a few years ago, but the new owner rescued it. It's funny that it was almost dead and Tweeter was kicking UE's butt, but now Tweeter is gone and UE is still alive, barely, but still alive. I've always gotten great customer service there and smoking deals. just got to know who to talk to.

Maybe he means Blu-ray/DVD since Blu-ray players do play DVDs. Just a thought. But, I know what you mean. Real Blu-ray commercials never say Blu-ray DVD but I have seen it listed in store advertisements that way too.

I have heard people say this quite a few times and it is really irritating. I always have to say it's just Blu-ray!

UE died in Austin, TX. All their stores are gone....and thank god!!

On the other hand, any advertising is good advertising for the format

And in the less educated it will imprint that Blu Ray is compatible with DVD, just better

Thats okay ive complained to frys that there website says you need a dvd player to play blu-ray movies.
