Default 50" Plasma/LCD recommendations?

Hello all, I will be in the market here shortly to upgrade my current 42" 720 Panny plasma. I love the picture quality, but I want a bigger set.

I am thinking 46-52". My budget is $1500ish. I figure 50" is probably about the sweet spot size and price wise. This will be strictly for viewing BR movies and playing PS3 games.

I have my eye on one of the 1080p 50" Pannys ($1299 at local Frys), but I am not opposed to other brands/types. I will say this, and this is not to bash LCDs, but every time I look at an LCD tv in the store that has any kind of action on it, I see like a flash of pixelation. Why is that? Is it some setting that is incorrect in the store? I know nothing of 120mhz/24fps etc. All I know is I am very happy with the quality of the picture on my current tv, I just want more of it!

Any recommendations/links/suggestions Id greatly appreciate.

Thanks in advance.

I think $1,300 for the one you're looking at is probably a good deal.

I'd agree with Omega here. Panny's are fantastic and for $1,300. You can't beat it.

Yeh the $899 BF deal at BB is good, however I think if I get a 50" set Ill want 1080.

I checked and the one at Frys thats $1299 is a TH50PZ80U.

Nice set the 80U.
If you're sitting around 5-8ft from your tv then you should appreciate the increase in resolution of your current Panny by moving to 1080p.

Guys,

I bought Panasonic 50PZ85U for $1399 + tax = $1515 from circuitcity and no payment no interest for 24 months.

What do you guys think about this deal? I know could have got cheaper on amazon, but i was thinking if the panel have had dead pixels it ll be really a hassell to exchange and also i have to pay now. Also, circuitcity has 60 day price match.

Thanks
