Default Great Speakers + Great Price Recommendation

I was reading my mens health magazine two days ago and saw a review in the gadget section for Home Theatre Speakers. www.thespeakercompany.com

I just ordered a 5.1 package for $349. http://www.thespeakercompany.com/TSA...0-B-P76C7.aspx

They are owned by D&M holdings which owns Marantz, Denon, Boston Acousitcs, and a few others : http://www.dm-holdings.com/eng/

They claim to cut out the middle man which are why speaker prices are so jacked up in the first place. I talked to their CEO through emails back and forth and sound like the real deal.

Free shipping, Free 30 day trial, and FREE return shipping if your not satisfied. They say they compare to Polk, JBL, and one other high end.

THought I would pass along the info, I'll post my review later. I did search a few other AV forums and they sound like they are a great undiscovered way to get a system at a fair price.

Wow, for those prices, you could get all center channel speakers, and be completly voice matched for 5 or 7.1 sound!

If you google, you'll find some pretty good hands on reviews.

Not my first source for audio/video advice

I have "heard" good things about this brand, but haven't heard them myself....

Great price, but I wouldn't be too quick to assume all of one holding companies products are held to the same standards.

Well, there's also R&D, material costs, and labor is high if they aren't made in China...... but Mark-ups on speakers certainly are high in most cases...... It depends on how the company wishes to distribute its product also.

Well, You may have a hard time getting a response out of the CEO of Warfedale, but that doesn't make them any less legit

Free shipping/trial is great, but Polk/JBL don't instantly come to mind in terms of "High End" they mainly deal in retail level stuff, which is sad, because they once focused heavily on the higher end, but it just wasn't lucrative enough.

Info is always a good thing, I'm sure many will be waiting eagerly for the review, as well as the pictures.

Still waiting on the sub, I should have that tomorrow but I installed the sat speakers and so far I am pleasantly surprised.

I will hold off on pics and full opinion until I get the sub going, but so far I can go much louder now without distortion. Using Rambo the last war scene, it is pretty bad ass so far.

I think it boils down to personal preference/price allotment and how neurotic one is about sound. I tried a pair of Monoprice in wall speakers. It was for my laundry room so I didn't particularly anything too high end. Well the rest of the house is comprised of Polk TC80i/LC80i's and you definitely get what you pay for with audio quality. The monoprice 43.00/pair speakers compared to a 299.00 each Polk speaker is night and day. Tonal quality, bass was no comparison. I am just glad I didn't get more from monoprice. My house is designed by Crestron so I am pumping quality sound throughout and need quality speakers. If you are pleased with monoprice or this speaker website, more power to you and enjoy the audio!

I am in the market for new speakers (7.1) & subwoofer, but I'm taking my time about a choice. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on your purchase.

Congratulations on your purchase. I hope this set-up gives you years of enjoyment, but.....

explain something to me, if you would please.

Why would you or anyone else for that matter buy speakers that haven't been auditioned personally? It took me over a year to select mine after listening to at least half-a-dozen to a dozen brands.

Normally I would follow your lead. That being said, for the great prices these speakers were, I felt it was worth the risk.

Also, unless your auditioning the speakers in your actual residence, your really not going to get a full sense of any speakers until they are in your room anyway. Certain speakers respond better with different acoustics and that is impossible to reproduce on a show room floor.

Just like buying a guitar amp, the sales guy always plugs in the les paul and it sounds great, but when you get home and plug in your Korean knockoff, it sounds like crap.

I agree 100%, although I think it is always better than buying blind. I was lucky insofar as my dealer let me buy the speakers and bring them back for a full refund if I wasn't satisfied. He did the same when I bought my Centre Channel and Surrounds.

Regarding the guitar amp combo...why not bring your Korean knockoff to audition an amp you're considering?

The Speaker COmpany has a 30 money back gurantee and they even pay for the shipping back. To me thats a pretty bold statement seeings how it can't be cheap to ship this stuff. My sub coming is weighing in at a 42lb package.

I got my sub tuesday and hooked it up wednesday. Let me say this sub sounds like a sub that sounds much more expensive. With all my speaker company speakers hooked up now I'm able to turn the volume up on my onkyo 606 to almost 70 with NO distortion what so ever. You can NOT find a better deal for $350. It's just like they say, these speakers sound like $1000 speakers and with the money back you can't go wrong. Hell, the sub weighs 42lbs and it was FREE shipping so they wouldn't back up a claim like that.

I put in the last battle scene in Rambo for my friends on thursday and they were flabbergasted as was I as this was the sound I've been looking for. The sub during the kickback of that big ass gun was great. The highs were clear, etc. Then I put in Top Gun and the begninning was thumbing like you couldn't believe. These speakers are almost too good to be true for the price.
