Default Newbie here with a Sharp BDHP20 ques.

Hey, I just got it with a 37' Sharp TV and was wondering if I could get better sound by using an optical cable from the player to the TV, I don't have an amp, but will it make a difference?

Thanks for your time,

Mike

usually Tv's don't have an optical "input". Only an Output.

so that option will not work.

Ah, mine is a Sharp Aquos LC37D65E, and it has an optical output only. Also, it says it's 100hz, so will anything be displayed in this mode? The blu ray is in 60hz I think.

Cheers again,

Mike

Even if the TV had an optical input, you won't get better sound through optical than you will through HDMI. HDMI will either give you the EXACT same sound as optical or better. Though unless you are using external speakers of some type, I doubt you'd tell the different between analog or any of the digital formats.
