R2 Offline Co-op problems

Hey guys. I've searched the R2 thread, and nobody seems to mention that they've had a problem with losing their exp/grey tech when they start a new session of the offline co-op. My buddy and I sat down to play for a second time earlier today, and he had lost his EXP for his medic class. I do not have hi-speed, and I don't see an option for him to create his own sign-in during our games. So it leaves his name as jeabombers(2). My character retained all of his EXP.
Also, we're having a real hard time with pretty much any mission. We finally completed a mission today, after a good number of hours playing. Is there a way to quick-start a game, or does it have to be set up manually EVERY time? It gets pretty grating for me to have to select our classes and mission every time we die.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
