Default Twilight pulls in 7 million from Midnights

Quote:
Summit Entertainment's Twilight grossed more than $7 million in Thursday midnight shows, reports Variety.

At that amount, Twilight could exceed initial forecasts for a $50 million to $60 million opening weekend.

Females, specifically tween girls and teenage girls, are driving the film, based on the best-selling books series by Stephenie Meyer. But it's not just younger females turning out, but older women and teen boys, too.

Meyer's series have sold more than 17 million copies worldwide.

I wanted to see at midnight but it was sold out...

I've read it's very true to the book and will please fans. Sounds like it's all it needed to be.

My wife saw it today with her students (they're also part of a shelter, so it's not like a normal school) and they all really enjoyed it. She liked it so much that she called me about it. I think she went in with very low expectations and came out really liking it.

Probably like the book-to-screen adaptation of Blood and Chocolate {I loved the book} but the movie changed EVERYTHING the only thing that were really similar about the characters were there names, and they didn't really even get THAT right.

For one, they're mostly boys (inner city at that) and they're high school kids, so there goes that teenage girl bit.

As far as the "do you know where your kids are"... these are kids that get their best meal at school. Many of them get the most attention there. They are falling through the cracks in society and people like my wife (and yes, I realize I'm biased) are working hard to bring them up and get them away from the culture and society they've been raised in. I take offense to that statement.

Easy there Chet.

Take a breather and calm down, he meant no offense and if you're taking offense to what he said, you should push yourself away from the computer for a few minutes.

Not EVERY kid who went to see the movie is like the one you described, in fact, most of them likely aren't anything like what you're describing in your doom-and-gloom description of these kids.

I wasn't talking about your statement. If I was I would have quoted you. I was talking about allt he girls that went out at midnight to watch this movie.

You know, that old saying do you know where your children are? Well all those young girls were out at Twilight screenings.

Most people who loved the books will probably never like the movie, no matter which book or movie translation it is.

I take offense to the fact that you weren't talking about me!

...sorry. I just am defensive of my wife and her school. I probably would've beaten these kids to a pulp already.

You maybe heard about the kid that jumped on a city bus and beat up the bus driver (it was on youtube for awhile)? ...yeah, one of her students was the prime suspect.

I disagree. They always want to like it and usually at least enjoy it. Except Eragon and The Kite Runner. God no.
