If it's registered and within a year, it should be repaired. I am not sure how Microsoft verifies the date of a product if you don't have a receipt.

tell him I said, "good luck." I'm on my 3rd 360. The only problem i had was (other than the system breaking on multiple occasions) one guy told me to ship in my HDD with the system, and that was a mistake. I received the new console w/out a HDD. I was out of a fully functional 360 for 3 months. I have exact details on my 1up.com page. same handle.

I couldn't handle that. I bought a launch 360 and haven't had trouble with it, thankfully.

I happen to love my 360 and it works great. I only bought my PS3 for the blu ray movie player. The 360 has better games. I do support both Blu Ray and HD-DVD

I know a guy who had to replace his Xbox 360... 4 times, and another one I know had to replace it twice. I never knew anybody who had to replace a SNES, N64, Gamecube.

I did have the original Xbox, never had a problem with it. It's quite amazing how many people have problems with their Xbox 360. The only console I ever had a problem was with the original Playstation. The rest of my consoles worked just fine.

If you bought it used then I'm not sure how Microsoft would go about verifing date of orginal purchase. IF it's registered, then you shouldn't have a problem when you call.

Personally, I bought my 360 on the 1st day and haven't had a problem yet.
and my PS3 is working great too.
The only system I had problems with was the PS2.

uh oh...a 360 lover. Better be careful around here. J/k. I LOVE my 360 too. Don't get me wrong...I love the two PS3 games that I have. It's just that I have 34 360 games that usually take up the majority my game time.

He should rebuy the s360 from costco. Then return the broken one for a costco refund. I heard they redid their return policy. Im not sure how it works. My brother works there and he tells me how much stuff costco throws out. A lot of stuff doesnt even make it back to the manuf. they just throw it in the big dumpster. I never understood..expecially throwing out clothes. hey could donate that...ya know.

I've had freeze issues with my 360 ever since I got it, but that's been a year. I keep expecting it to give out but it keeps humming along. All the gaming boards I have visited seem to have a ton of threads on 360 failure issues and tons of people seem to be on their 2nd or 3rd unit. For such a pricey system, at least by gaming standards it's riduculous that this thing is not built better.
I have 24 games for the 360, only Resistance: Fall of Man for my PS3. I love both machines, but expect the PS3 to occupy more of my time once their library expands.
