I want to learn abt blue laser diode. I have no knowledge abt it. Can anyone provide me with the any stuff, tutorials, theory or anything, where i can know abt blue laser diode operation, its applications, current tradeoffs, and future possibilities.

U can email me at my id: hardiksujal@yahoo.com

the wavelenght of the blue is smaller 405nm than the red 633nm.
So you can write more data on a disk but blue diode not easy to build and are at the moment quite expensive
Is Someone know a price (nichia sanyo)?

Ya, what he said. narrower beam means that it can read smaller pits or whatever little storage thingies the disc uses, greatly increasing the amount of data a disc can hold. (increases the disc's data density).

I also hear that they use a new "ridge" system with lines or something in the disc to provide extra data. *shrugs*
