Default Magnavox Blu-ray Disc Player, NB500MG9

Hey,
Does this player feature BD-Live or firmware upgrades? I haven't been able to find out so if someone could tell me that would be great.

Thanks

No BD-live and no firmware updates have ever been issued. Every BD I've thrown in mine has worked.

I'd go with a player that features BD-live. Their promising some pretty cool features in the future.

My question is does this player have BD-live though? That's what I'm uncertain about.

no...BD live requires an ethernet connection so you can get online. There is no ethernet port on this unit

So without the Ethernet it obviously can't get firmware upgrades is that bad?

if firmware updates come out you might be able to burn them to a cd from their website and update that way.....

new firmware might be required for BD"s later on down the line. I would spend just a little extra and would get a player that has those features

I'm tempted to pick it because it lacks BD Live.

(That is ... if my PS3 ever stops working and I need a Blu Ray player)

I have a internet connection already... I don't like BD Live.
I got the insignia player that is the same as this magnovox player for my stepdad and I love how it works well with every disc. Hasn't needed any FW updates... gotta love that.

Sony is planning some awesome BD-Live stuff in 2009. I talk to the rep every couple of weeks, and he said what we have now for BD-Live is just the tip of the iceberg............

How is the load time?

I'm thinking about getting one for my mom. She wouldn't use the BD-live features even if it could access them.
