Default The Road Warrior (Mad Max 2) (Now Lossless)

The Road Warrior Blu-ray DTS-HD MA 5.1

The Road Warrior Blu-ray Review

The Road Warrior Blu-ray is awesome on blu and is a prime example of what blu can do for an older film. The picture quality is stunning compared to DVD. I always wonder why there aren’t more comments about this while there are a ton of comments for other older movies transferred to BD.

I have read the reviews on the blu-ray of said title.....but heck with official reviews (j/k). Does anyone have it and is it worth getting in terms of PQ and AQ?

Absolutely worth getting. It's an old movie so by no means is it the best looking BD out there, but it's fantastic looking especially for its age. I grew up watching this movie all the time and this is the best it's ever looked. Way better than the dvd version upconverted.

Plus for $13.95 you can't go wrong.

I feel the same way....

I used to watch it all the time on VHS and loved it with every viewing.

You are correct...for that price, you really cant go too terribly wrong.

Thumbs up Get it !

Yes I have it and love it. Best it has EVER looked; now compared to the new titles it might be a 3.5 for both sound and audio. But a 3.5 on a blu looks a hell of a lot better than a DVD !!!!

I think you can find it pretty cheap as well. 14.99 maybe ??

Broooooooooooo!!!

RUN and Buy it NOWWWWW!!!!

If you are even halfway into this movie...GET IT.

With the exception of a couple of (naturally and completely acceptable) grainy night scenes, the picture quality is perfect.

Doesn't look 20 years old at all.

Yes it is. There's a lot of detail and the picture is exceptionally clean with no burns scarches or hairs any where to be seen. But what surprises me most is the colour.

You would never think The Road Warrior was a movie known for it's lavish colours but where there's a purple scarf for example it really does pop out at you.

Ether wait till Warner bring out all 3 or just buy it now. You won't be dissapionted.

Thumbs up

It's good that you decided to buy it. I was pretty surprised at how good the PQ was considering it's an older film. Especially in the beginning when Wes and the driver are attacking Max there was great detail in the road.

Possibly my favorite trilogy

Enjoy!!

Definitely buy it. It blows away the old DVD, and as an added bonus it includes the unrated version(hence the opening title of "Mad Max 2") and an audio commentary.

Um, I don't think so. This seems to be the same (great) R rated cut that's been floating around for years. The Mad Max 2 opening titles are nothing new.

Fantastic disc, well worth the cheap price tag.

It looks and sounds great dispite the lack of lossless audio. It is not the US theatrical cut but a slightly extended and more violent cut.

It is one of the better pq Bd I have. It looks amazing..the facial detail and desert is really impressive. Watching a movie you have seen many times on tv through the 80s and 90s looks weird (in a good way) when you watch it on BD. In terms of set design and outfits it looks 80s.. but the PQ makes it looks like a new movie. It's kind of trippy

The AQ sucks but that is just because the sfx are old and poor by todays standards. That is something old movies will always lack in unless studios start re-doing sfx in old movies. But.. that is part of the fun in watching movies from certain periods.
