The chargers look the same and the energizer may be manufactured by pelican which is the second charger in your post. I use the flat charger that holds two controllers I think Tekno makes it, it is in the standard sony/PS3 packaging. I payed the same amount as the two you have listed $29. I found the pelican was just two big and bulky and would not fit where I wanted to put it in my entertainment center.

I have the Pelican charger and LOVE it. I think it holds the controllers in a stylish way. Looks like a piece of art.

The only problem I have is... sometimes when you plug in a controller it says it's charged when it's not. To solve the problem you have to disconnect the AC plug (is included) from the back and replug it in. It's not a deal breaker, but if it were me I'd pony up the 2 extra buck to get the Energizer one to see if it avoids the problem. There are also two USB ports on the side of the stand, so you can charge 4 controllers. Two in the stand and two with USB cables to the stand.

If you do this, you can then use the PS3 controller for emulators such as MAME. The process to make it work is rather byzantine, but if your internet search fu is strong enough you can find the way.

Nope, since charging with the PC works fine, I see no need to find another way. But that's just me.
