Yeah it was nowhere near as bad as I was lead to believe. Have you seen Audition, that's a love it or hate it film for most people. I take it you've heard of Akira Kurosawa? Anything by him. If you like his Samurai movies then there's a whole slew of them worth checking out. The Zatoichi's are good, Sword Of Doom, The Baby Cart Series, Legend Of The Eight Samurai... sorry I could go on for days.

I liked it, but it's another one of the love/hate movies. Judging by your list though you would probably like it. I saw you listed two of del Toro's films, have you seen Cronos?

I don't watch many foreign films but I do enjoy watching Spirited Away, Castle in the Sky and Howl's Moveing Castle every once in awile. Other then that I can't think of any that I really liked.

It a different take on vampire mythology. It's been a long time since I've seen it, 15 years or so. I remember really liking it. And being the only one. It's gotten to the point that when I find a good independent film I usually go by myself. Not worth the hassle of explaining it to a group of people and have them stare blankly at you.

I assume by "foreign film", you mean "non-English language film", since technically all the Bond Films, Mad Max, LOTR, etc are "foreign" since they were not made in the US.

My favorite is "Atame" (Tie Me Up - Tie Me Down) by Almodavar.
Unfortunately, it is not available on Region I DVD or Blu-ray.
