Default PowerDVD HDCP problem

Using PowerDVD 8 and have the latest upgrades/patches whatnot and even my BD advisor comes up clean but yet i still receive the msg to change to a vga connection everytime i start playing a bluray.

really stumped here. I was using anydvd but it seems every new bluray i get needs a critical update and im of course cracked, not willing to pay there ridiculous price for something that should be working without.
Thanks..

The newest versions of PowerDVD won't play *any* BD disc under XP with an ATI graphics card, regardless if you have a HDCP capable monitor or not, because Cyberlink has broken the HDCP detection.

So, you should revert back to the previous version. The same thing happened to me also.

As I use 7.3, I'm not sure about 8, but I guess the last version should work.

Default Hiro1030 Is Right NickBalto

I said this about a week or two ago. In the beginning of my computer building I went with ATI cards. I would suggest leave them alone. I am running the same software he is running. Powever DVD, however, it's the Suite 1.0 that came with my LG drive/HD-DVD/Blu-Ray all together. As long as ATI exist, then you're going to have problems with their driver issues and such. That's just the way ATI cards are. Listen to this as well. ATI makes great cards for the price, however, the hardware has nothing to deal with the drivers the manufacturer delivers. Maybe you can swap the card out or something. I love the ATI cards, I just don't like the driver issues that comes with it. If ATI ever gets it's driver department together, then I will think about buying one. Until then, Nvidia forever for me. Sorry you're having this problem.

Yep, I know what you mean. I'm in the process of building a new rig. I'll pick up a NVIDIA GTX 260 this time.

However, ArcSoft TMT works with my ATI HD4670 flawlessly whatever version of driver I use.... Plus, TMT can decode the HD audio correctly (TrueHD/DTS-HD MA). So, actually I ditched PowerDVD.

I think you need a card like the ASUS Xonar HDAV. It even comes with TMT.

Be careful NickBalto with this soundcard. Just because you're paying about $150-200.00 for this card doesn't mean it's better. According to newegg.com and Asuz's website, the card is not compliant with the current software it comes with. Users are giving this card bad ratings. I say, before you buy a soundcard look at user ratings. Many people are experts at proper sound set ups. Just be forewarned. Peace.

Initially the card was full of problems (driver issues - not issues with TMT). All of the known bugs with the exception 24fps playback have been rectified (ASVforum accounts). It now bitstreams TrueHD and DTS-HD-Master in XP and Vista 32bit versions. I just received my new motherboard (Geforce 9300) and to my surprise it states that it has a protected audio path built into the GPU (that was a shocker to me ) I'm going to install it and put it through its paces this weekend. I'll start a thread to let you guys know how it performs.

I really would like to know how the Asus cards hold up. Thankfully, according to your information, Asus is really branching out into other markets instead of just motherboards. Thanks and do keep up informed.
