Amazon Post-Order Price Guarantee policy!!

Just thought I would give everyone a heads up on this, if you didn't know already, I ordered Indy 4 and Kung Fu Panda less than 2 weeks ago and each one dropped about $7 I tried to get the difference and here is what I recieved from amazon below.....

I would like to sincerely apologize for any disappointment this may have caused , but only orders placed before September 1, 2008 are eligible for a price difference refund under the Post-Order Price Guarantee policy. As of September 1, 2008 we are no longer offering discounts if prices change on our website after you make a purchase.

Prices of items at Amazon.com will necessarily change on occasion, as the discount we are able to offer for any item can also depend on availability.

Also, there may be times when Amazon.com runs out of stock of an item that is also offered by one of our partner merchants. You may see it displayed on our web site as available, but from a different merchant and with a different price than you saw previously. Our merchants set their own prices.



We realize that from time to time, our customers will be able to purchase a single item from another store at a lower price than ours. While we don't always beat the best available price on every product, we do offer deep discounts on many thousands of items.

Yeah, this was talked about a lot when it was first announced in late August. I don't understand why they would get rid of their price protection, even though most retail stores carry at least a 30 day protection. I bought 4 HDTVs on amazon and each time benefited from a lower price in that time frame, but I would be hesitant to buy another big ticket item without some sort of protection.

This was talked about back in August and hundreds of times since then not just in this forum, but in several forums that I go to. They still offer pre order guarantee, just not post order.
