Default The Dark Knight - WILL be re-released!

(GOT THIS INFO FROM A REAL GOOD MOVIE SITE - www.darkhorizons.com)

UPDATE: WB Still Planning The Dark Knight Rerelease
Source:Warner Bros. Pictures December 2, 2008

Earlier today, we received solid word that Warner Bros. Pictures was dropping its plans to rerelease The Dark Knight in theaters in January.

But to our surprise, the studio told us later in the day they are still moving forward with the rerelease and that IMAX should be sending out an official announcement soon.

The Christopher Nolan-directed film has earned $996.1 million worldwide and should easily be able to surpass the $1 billion mark with the rerelease.

The year's biggest blockbuster hits DVD and Blu-ray Disc on Tuesday, December 9th.

(I'm not sure how much more $$$ it'll take, as most of us will be watching at HOME anyway by then...)

So, it's an IMAX only re-release, as was expected months ago.

I hope so, though it doesn't say Specifically it will be IMAX Only, just something about them sending out a release. I'd rather it just be IMAX myself, so I can see the 2-3 (?) scenes Nolan filmed Solely for the Imax cameras, as I caught it the 1st time around in a regular cinema (though that screen was HUGE in and of itself).

I think it will make some money from the IMAX. I haven't seen it yet...will watch it on Blu-ray, but I could see me going to see it at the IMAX for the experience.

I missed this in IMAX (but saw it in a regular cinema). I would LOVE to see this in IMAX!

Don't jump on me for not knowing this, but what the hell is an IMAX? I typically don't go to the movies, I'd much rather wait for it to be released on Blu-ray. But all I hear is this talk about IMAX! What is it?

Hey, maybe with a re-release it'll be able to finally knock Titanic out of the top box office spot. (Thank goodness something finally will!)

So what. I bet all of you posting on this thread already have it (me ) or are planning to get it. Why pay to see it again when you can watching at home with shifting aspect ratios and all?

if anything they should have put it back in theaters before releasing it on dvd/bluray. why pay $8-$14 to see it in theaters when you can pay a little more and own it. though for people who didn't see it in imax i guess that will be cool. first time this has happened with any movie, right?

i don't see it happening. imax isn't big enough to be able to do that. there just aren't enough screens across the country and the money imax pulls in, while impressive in it's own right, is nowhere near what regular theaters pull in. plus the movie's hitting dvd and blu-ray tuesday. titanic is safe.
