Default PS3 "Cannot Play Video" error help

We rented Pursuit of Happyness, got about half way through when we got:

This Video Cannot Be Played (80029946)

After googling the error code it seems the player cannot play a burnt dual layer but obviously this is not a burnt disc at all as it's from Netflix.

Any ideas? I own 2 PS3s and they both did this so should I assume it's the disc.

I did a little research for you!

Try and play with some setting under display and dvd section. I turned off the "Super White" option under display, cannot remember the exact text, but my copy of pursuit of happiness now plays.
Let me know what happens after you change the settings!

Thanks for looking. No dice. I think it's simply a bad disc. I just hope it's not the new firmware!

Also I found an 'UnOfficial PS3 Error Codes List" while searching for more information.

It could potentially make sense as after doing some research I'm only hearing people that use Netflix to get this error message.

I found that list also. Where have you heard that Netflix rentals are more prone to problems?

I made that conclusion on my own, not a website stating it. If you want I can attempt to make a list of different websites, but it will take a few minutes if you are interested.

Naw, not necessary, certainly not worth it. Thanks.
