Probably because that's a ridiculously wide ratio. I'm sure it would be just peachy for a documentary about container cargo ships.

Because even giant movie theatre screens would then have visibly noticeable black bars too!!! Imagine how j6p would react when, all of a sudden, their theatrical experience was being "ruined" by "not being able to see everything in frame because those black bars are making the image smaller."

I think 3.55:1 would be a little too wide man.

Anyway, Abel Gance's Napoléon (1927) was made in the aspect ratio of 4.00:1.

I could just see Quinten Tarentino shooting his foot fetish scenes in 3.55:1

Just one loooooooooooooooong foot on the screen.

Damn dude, I'm eating.

I have no problem with black bars, but I may do if they were actually bigger than the picture itself

I'm going to mask my screen down to 3.55:1 and show 'Friends' on it. That'll get back at all those years of having the sides of my movies chopped off. It'll teach my buddies a lesson about OAR too!

Hey, the wider the better. I don't care how high the screen is. It could be 1mm high (or 1 pixel), but the width has to be 10 billion pixels!
So 10,000,000,000:1 would be nice!

Hell, that would play better on my triple-screen display than my HDTV (obviously I would have to stretch it to fit).

Those would be added to the list with crying babies, cell phones, people talking and kicking seats.
