Default Aspect ratio and zoom on HDMI

Hi,

I am new to this forum and to Blu-Ray, but I did Search (RTFF first), I understand the issue of Aspct Ratio and why 2.35:1 movies play with black bars on 16:9 and PLEASE don't turn this into another debate or poll, OAR vs cropping, my only question(s) is:

- If an old DVD player can have an option to 'zoom' or 'crop' why can't my new Blue-Ray DVD player Samsung BD-P1500 have the same? Or will it (with an update) or it is going back to Best Buy...

Second qustions is are all Blue-Ray players like this - that you can't zoom / crop different aspect ratio? Is Samsung Home Theather (HT-BD2E) like that (or is it going back to Amazon)? Are Sony players like that too?

Or is this just limitation of HDMI, I tried conencting the BD-P1500 with Component video and I still could not zoom to fill screen like DVD player can?

I know 'The Director' intented for me to watch the movie in Panoramic view but I just don't have a Movie Theather in my house and I refuse to go back in time 5 years when we watched Full Screen movies on Wide Screen TV and had black bars cover half of screen... The guys who come up with excuses for that probably still use Unix!
