Can i still buy new PS3 that plays PS2? - Blu-ray Forum

I know the newer versions do not but do any of you know where and what i need to look for to get a Ps3 that does? Thanks. This is for a friend, i have one that was bought year ago.

You're mistaken.

PS2 backwards-compatible PS3's include the 20GB and 60GB models and more recently (and still available from some stores) the 80GB Metal Gear Solid 4 pack.

All PS3's play PlayStation/PSone games.

Im selling a 20gb (upgraded to 120gb) PS3. Full backwards compatibility. Perfect condition. (obviously not new of course.

Amazon had a couple of the MGS4 80GB units recently. They are BC.

Yea, Amazon or ebay is about your only chance. Unless you can get a used systen from Gamestop or someone on this site.

You can't find any new 60GBs for a cheap price ($1500 on Amazon) and you can't find any new 60GBs on eBay too. I found some 20GBs on Amazon for $575 w/o shipping. Kind of pricey. But you can also buy some Gamestop Refurbished models as well.

You can but it costs more unless you can find the older discontinued SKU's in stock somewhere.

I bought a 20GB on Launch but sold it on ebay due to technical problems.
