Default Nolan Has Started "Outlining" Batman 3

I know we're all sick and tired of batman 3 speculation threads, but I'm sure there will be many many more to come. That being said, here's a bit of news I thought worthy of posting, since it actually confirms Nolan is starting (read: starting, not committing) work on a 3rd batman:

Quote:
Nolan, when doing an interview about the DVD release for the second of the Batman films, THE DARK KNIGHT, said he "is jotting notes and doing some rough outlines for a third story" but he hasn't yet found anything he's willing to commit to film, despite Warner Bros.' eagerness to get a new film underway.

[Nolan] added, "It was obvious when the box office was so big ($530 million domestically) that we had underestimated how ready fans were to reboot the franchise. The worst thing you could do now that you've gotten the plane back in the air is mess up the landing."
Real the full interview over at USA Today: http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/...n_N.htm?csp=34

I do to but I respect his cautiousness. I want him to do Batman 3 to but only if he actually has a good idea. I just hope that if he backs down the studio doesnt make a crappy 3rd one without Nolan.

I agree, I don't want him to screw it up. But honestly, I don't think he will. He is a great film maker and I think he has what it takes to break the curse of bad third installments.

I know Warner Bros. must be eager to get another film out, but I really hope they show some restraint and don't pressure the guy who just delivered them a one billion dollar movie. The story has got to come first. I'd rather wait another 5 years (I know that would suck) for another decent Batman film than for them to rush this project. I'm also a little nervous about what they might do if Nolan passes on this. I sure as hell wouldn't blame him though.

I have trust in Nolan, I haven't been let down by his films yet. Let's hope he can break the 3rd installment curse of Superhero movies (X-MEN and Spider-Man).

I don't know about 5 years? But I bet that if Warners gonna do another Batman film, that Nolan will do another Batman film.

bam. so true. don't forget old batman 3 (forever), superman 3, and tmnt3. but i have great respect for nolan and i dont think he'll ever let his fans down or give in to stupid studio demands. he's made that clear again and again.

Yeah, let him think about it. It's a good thing he's not pulling a Michael Bay, shitting plots out as if he was under the curse of Montezuma.

I do too. Just saying I'd be willing to wait (Not that I'd have a choice!).

I wonder if Nolan (if he moves forward with a third) would be out no matter what when it comes to a fourth or if he'd still be open to continue.

good question, especially because everyone knows WB will try to get as much money out of this franchise as they can (i'm still not sure how i feel about spiderman getting 3 more movies. 6 is a bit much imo). hopefully bale and the rest of the cast who appear in a 3rd won't agree to any more unless nolan does...which i'm guessing he won't

Batman has a very rich universe full of many interesting characters. Six good movies is not out of the range of possibility and if anyone can do it Nolan can. Of course I only want them made if he has good ideas but there is definitely plenty of subject matter to comb through.

Yea, but knowing movie studio exec's and especially WB it will get made regardless. No matter how bad the script is. Just to try and bleed it dry.

true, and i don't doubt nolan's abilities to do 3+ at all. but he's stated again and again he never makes a movie with an intent to shoot the sequel. he always waits and sees how he feels after the movie's complete before deciding on what to do next. i can't see him sticking with the batman franchise for 6 movies, regardless of how much material there is to explore (and you're right, there is quite a lot). simliar to what james cameron (yes i'm bringing him up again ) said about his terminator movies, im sure nolan will make batman movies until he feels he has completed what he set out to do when he started. if that takes 3 movies, 4 movies, 5 movies, 6 movies, etc, so be it. i'm sure whatever he has in mind will be great

I quote Nolans quote,

"It was obvious when the box office was so big ($530 million domestically) that we had underestimated how ready fans were to reboot the franchise."

I was ready after I saw Batman 2.
