Default Mission Impossible Collection

Does this collection come like the Godfather trilogy (one case, three movies) or does each movie have its own Blu case?

I'm still holding out for a re-release with lossless audio.

^^^ Yeah, what he said. I wish Paramount would re-encode the MI series with AVC and include lossless audio. The PQ of MI III does look really good though.

Thats one of the reasons why I bought the trilogy for HD DVD. The third one had lossless audio and PIP.

The first one had some major issues which gave it for me a 3.5 for PQ

All those pasty looking faces from the sloppy DNR which is very prevalent and still a lot of unneeded grain and dirt. I say for consistency that 2 looked the best especially the bike chase scene at the end.

There is actually a BD boxset, but that might only be a French release.

The first one was ok not great but ok. The next 2 were just ridiculous. I never bothered getting them on SD and won't bother on BD either, no matter what the PQ is on them.

Sorry to bump a pretty much dead topic here, but I had a quick question I haven't seen the original "Mission: Impossible" in quite some time, but Wal-Mart I think just got all 3 with new exclusive cover art or something like that, but I could care less.

This is more of a De Palma question. Does he participate at all in the bonus features? I know there's no De Palma commentary which sucks, but a lot of the features seem Tom Cruise-centric, I would be buying this more because of Brian De Palma. Please let me know, and thanks in advance.

No, I don't think DePalma participated -- actually, I don't think anyone from the films themselves participated. I remember they have a spy-gear featurette, and some pre-existing Tom Cruise tribute videos that were from his website. If there were actual new cast / crew interviews, I don't remember them, but maybe I'm wrong.

And DePalma is one of those anti-commentary guys, like Spielberg or Landis. He doesn't do them.

Guess I'm not gonna buy it then. I would've settled with atleast some kind of interviews with De Palma, but nothing like that? What a shame.

I guess I am wrong -- but only partially. DVDTalk review of the Blu says there are 3 featurettes on the actual making of the film, but Paula Wagner is the only "contemporary" interview, with all other clips taken from the archives.

I don't remember what it was priced at, but if it's under $10 I might pick it up..

Quote:
Four featurettes offer an overview of the production aspects of the film, and feature new or recent interviews with De Palma, Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Jon Voight and other members of the cast and crew, as well as actual CIA operatives to lend the proceedings an air of authenticity.
