Exclamation Subwoofer with no coax in??

OK, now I'm really confused. My subwoofer came with no coax in?? Instate it has a R/L line in and a right and left speakers in and output. What are these for??
Do need to use the Zone 2 outputs on my receiver? I got an Onkyo 606.

I'm also thinking if I should put the center speaker in front of the TV which would position it below the ears or hang it behind the TV (like 1ft) higher up.
Some people say at ear level while my manual says 60-100cm above it which I find a little much, so I probably gona go somewhere in between like position it around the top of my head.

Just stick the coax cable into either of the line inputs - or get a Y-splitter from radio shack so it fits into both. No big deal. The speaker outputs are another matter, you don't have to worry about that. You don't need to use Zone2 or anything.

I would say ear level or on the stand in front of the TV is fine, I'm not too fond of them being higher up.

my center sits under the TV, ... but because of the dispersion pattern the sound still comes through to me clearly... below the ears is fine... depending on the style you may want to angle it up a bit though... mine are klipsch and the horn has a very accurate and wide dispersion so it doesnt need to point up at all, regardless of being almost 1 foot below ear level

Thanks and does it matter if my surround back speakers are higher up than the rest? Something just tells me to put them higher.

Lol... wow I was tired last night... didnt realize you were talking about the actual height and not the volume settings lol

Well i've heard 2 feet above ear level is best for surrounds?

What do you mean by co-ax in? Do you mean the co-axial spdif multi-channel audio output from, say, a DVD player?

Just get this... lol:

http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

Subwoofer cable. It's properly shielded, it's 12ft, and it's of very good quality. I just replaced my unshielded cable with one a couple weeks ago. For about $5 you can't go wrong.

If you want a Y-splitter (check your manual and see what it says, but personally I say to try it) you can get one like this:

Default Unpowered Sub

It sounds like you have a sub that is intended to be connected in-line with your Front L/R speakers. The subs that have a "coax" RCA style connector have a built-in amp. The one you have probably does not.

So what you have to do is run the L/R signal out of your main amp into the speaker in on the sub and then run the speaker out to your Front L/R speakers.

Now, re-reading your post I see that your sub also has L/R line in. Are those terminal type connectors or are they the RCA style of connector (similar to the old audio connectors on a VCR for example.) In any case, this may be an input to an internal amp on the sub and you should just be able to connect your sub out to one of these connections (usually the Left).

Hope you get it up and running nicely.

He just needs to plug the cable into the L/R jacks (typically the left but check the manual) and he'll be good to go.
