Yamaha or Onkyo? - Blu-ray Forum

I am pretty sure I am getting an Onkyo TX-SR706 for christmas for power/value. Just woundering if I should have gone with the Yamaha RX-V863 for its sound quality?

My inclination would be to say yes, but it's up to your ears.

You really should listen to the same material on both receivers in order to make the determination.

Both Onkyo and Yamaha are excellent quality receivers. However, if given a choice between the two, I would take the Yamaha. I too would have to agree with Kingofgrills..... let YOUR ears decide. Don't let anyone tell you how your money should be spent.
