Now as I remember this is the region for regular dvd's:
1. US and Canada 2. West Europe, Japan 3. Southeast Asia 4. Latin America, Australia 5. Russia, India, Africa 6. China Blu-Ray regions are: 1. North and South America, India, Southeast Asia, Japan - Region A 2. Europe, Middle East, Australia - Region B 3. Russia, China - Region C Now I live in USA, so can I order my blu-rays from the UK, and then put the blu-ray in an american PS3 and it will work. Cause I am getting mixed answers..... |

Yes and no. It depends on the title.
Most companies hate region coding and never use it. Universal, Warner, and Paramount always release region free discs. Now these are titles sold directly by them. In some countires other companies sell their products so those companies may region lock the title. A US PS3 is always region A. You can buy movies from Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Brazil, Mexico, and Canada without a hitch. But movies from the UK are another story. Fox and Disney region code a number of their releases but generally older movies are not region locked. The other problem is that if you want to get exclsusive extras, you always have to be aware of the 480 and 576 SD video issues. Sony, Warner, Paramount, Universal, Fox, and Disney present SD extras in 480 NTSC video. Other companies may use 576 PAL video which won't work on US PS3s. Son of Rambow has a 576 PAL trailer right before the movie so while the disc is not region coded, a lot of US players can't play back the movie at all. Dutch Filmworks does the same thing with their BDs. You watch the movie without problems but their excellent exclusive extras are not going to be viewable on a US PS3. Bear in mind too that companies like Concorde Entertainment also use the image constraint token. As long as you use the HDMI cable, you'll be fine. If you are using the component cable, the 1080 image will be downconverted to 480. |

This site goes through each movie individually.
http://bluray.liesinc.net/#bruk Click on the region of the movie you want. So if you want matrix trilogy from UK which is region B, select region B. Then go down to M and find matrix, if its green, it will work. If its red, it will not. Since its Warner, it will be green and it will work in any Blu ray player in the world. |
