It's making so much they're already a go

Looking at the sequel's box office numbers, it has now brought in over $293 million in worldwide ticket sales, on a $150 million budget. That means that the movie has almost doubled its budget in five weeks of release.

With such strong numbers, it comes as no surprise that DreamWorks Animation chief Jeffrey Katzenberg has now announced that a third "Madagascar" is in the pipeline, with a projected 2012 release date. The announcement came during a three-hour pitch to Wall Street analysts today.

McGrath previously said that the would like to see the characters return to their home, the Central Park Zoo, but he's also open to dropping Alex, Marty, Gloria and Melman in another far-off country.
