I guess "full context" is the kind of stuff Amir is peddling over on AVS

What a crappy article -- typical of internet journalism these days. All title and no beef. Not enough information as to how perception of the unit was "damaged" by this. What did people not like? What did MS feel they needed to gloss-over?

Sour grapes, as far as I'm concerned.

In this case, it just amounted to people learning the truth about a product before marketing spin took advantage of peoples' ignorance. If MS would have put out a product worth calling new and exciting in the first place, they wouldn't be having this problem.

"For the Elite...people were talking about the functionality and had pictures and all this stuff, but they didn't have the full story. They didn't know the price, they didn't know the accessories, they didn't know additional information that really puts a lot of context and a lot of information behind it."

"The reason why it's bad is because then you lose all the context. You lose all the facts that back it up, so that people hear the story once, understand it, and move forward, as opposed to hearing things bit by bit, piece by piece."
Lets see: only HDMI 1.2a, no HD-DVD drive, no built in wifi, an over priced hard drive, no support for lossless audio, and spot on leaks about how much the thing would cost.

What's not to understand? Keep in mind the majority of that info was leaked by M$ themselves because they're super duper hip yo!

M$ leaked everything just as a politician would. They want to gauge public opinion and then have "plausible deniability". They are just trying to keep the hype and rumors/"news" going. It isn't working for me.

Those articles are a platform for M$'s marketers. We've seen the same marketing tactic repeatedly done. It's free advertising.
