Talking MY The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor Review!!!

Well I work at Movie Gallery and I get to watch movies before
they come out..blu-rays included..so I decided to review it for you
guys early

First-this movie DOES look better on blu-ray!!
5 out of 5 for this PQ
Second-the DTS-HD 5.1 is good..but not great..though
it does sound AMAZING during the scenes it should
4 out of 5
Third-Bonus Features are SD..its a 2 disc set
but the bonus features disc is not HD.,its the same disc you will
find in the 2-Disc DVD version..though the bonus features are nice.
NO HD WTF Universal
OVERALL
4 out of 5

Hope my review is helpful you guys!!!

there is already a thread for the movie ...

but anyway, I got the blu for rent today.
and no matter what, the movie was just not good.
everything was weak : acting, script, action.

although I agree with the PQ (well 4.5), the audio I felt was lacking (3.5)
and yeah Universal once again pulls a HELLBOY 2 and we get a standard dvd for special features. Which bugs me but a lot of people on here don't seem to care.

Except that's not the case. There are several featurettes ("The Making Of The Mummy:Tomb of the Dragon Emperor", "From City to Desert", ""Legacy of the Terra Cotta"), not counting the PiP feature, which *are* on the first disc of the set and *are* in HD.

Not *all* of the extras are in HD, no. But it's not the case that *none* of them are.

Thumbs up Mummy 3

I watched it tonight (never seen it when it was at the theater). I enjoyed it very, very much.

Pros: Good story, Love Brandon Frazier, Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh, Chinese thematic, Yeti (Love 'em!), beautiful sets and scenery, loads of action and amazing FX. PQ is sensational.

Cons: No Rachel Weisz, the first scene with Rick and Evelyn at home was dull and lacked chemistry between the actors, not enough martial art fighting between Michelle Yeoh and Jet Li -- and one particular scene was a blatant rip off of a similar scene in Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade. I also felt that the DTS Master Audio track was overly loud in some scenes and it was base-heavy (my sub-woofer is still warm ).

Overall: Super fun and captivating. Just be sure to separate it from the first two Mummy movies. This is not a sequel. I am looking forward to seeing it again.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty impressive.

Anyway, I enjoyed it and thought it looked/sounded good. Nice mix of action and humor (imo).

Watched a rental of Mummy III. Definitely better than M II, but not near the charm and enjoyment of Mummy I. Brandon F. is very likable, Maria B. is not a good replacement for Rachel W (she is a good actress but miscast in this role), and the son was uninspiring. Actually, I enjoyed the daughter of Michelle Yeoh (don't recall her name) -- but probably because she was so pretty. Unfortunately Jett Li and Michelle Yeoh were very under-utilized. CGI were also so so -- more of the usual and nothing new. I got tired of the weak 'subplot' of tension between father and son -- an old and worn out approach. Video quality: 4

Having said the above, I did enjoy the movie for what it is -- an afternoon popcorn movie (which is when I saw it and what I ate). I suppose I'll watch it again before I return it (and maybe it will grow on me) but to be honest, I don't think I'll buy it. Just not original enough. Too bad because I wanted to like it.

Ironically, I just ordered The Mummy BD but it looks like it will be the only movie of the series that I buy. Just like I'll buy the Matrix I BD but not the others. The sequels don't live up to the original.

I am a fan of The Mummy (I), I cannot stand the CG in The Mummy Returns... it is so bad that I cannot watch it without wincing in pain...

I hate bad CGI... oh, I also hate kids in movies... the son also ruined The Mummy Returns for me.

But... The Mummy (III) is actually really good in my opinion... it has the feel of The Mummy (I) and the kid is not so annoying because he is an adult.

The Yeti field-goal is terrible... I would have rather had the Yeti look at each and growl with satisfaction. They can hopefully change that with a future directors cut or something like that.

I too thought of Indy IV with Brandon almost dead and needing to drink from the cup of Jesus... I mean drink from Shangra-La (spelling?).

I think the CG is loaded better than The Mummy Returns... I feel the Mummy (I) has much better CG over #2.

So... all-in-all... I see myself watching this movie again... solid B movie!

The only reason I remotely want to see it is for Jet Li, but then my heart and soul disagree with seeing it for he picked a corny movie to play in

Watched the first one on blu. Great!

Watched the second one on blu. WOW!

Watched the third on blu. .... Liked it better on blu than I did in the theater.

After seeing The Dark Knight everything else was simply crap for a while.

Movie Gallery rents out blu-ray now? That's cool. I worked at MG for 6 months when I lived in Florida. I had a lot of fun working there.

I'll pick this up when it's around $15. That second disk is a letdown since it's not in HD.

I though part three blew chunks. Sounds harsh, I know, but I just wasn't impressed at all (except for the PQ). Horrible chemistry between characters, I felt nothing from Maria Bello's portrayal and the storyline felt rushed. Brandon Frazier (sp?) looked like he wished he'd never signed on for it. And what's with the son having no British accent? All I kept thinking about when he spoke was him saying, "Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" in the second movie. Glad I rented it first. I was going to blind buy it.
