Default Iphone Nano to be announced at Macworld? Case Mockup inside

http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/15/i...e-case-mockup/

There's something just a little skeezy about basing predictions for Important New Apple Products upon nasty renders of protective case mockups from China. Still, they've panned out astonishingly nicely before, so we'll just have to suck it up. iDealsChina is reporting that XSKN is not-so-secretely working on a silicone skin for the upcoming "Nano iPhone" (or, more likely, iPhone nano) a shorter, chubbier version of the iPhone 3G. According to iDealsChina sources, the phone will apparently sport EDGE data, but otherwise seems unsurprisingly identical in specs to its forebears, other than the obviously smaller screen. They're also saying Apple plans to sell these at high volumes for low prices at hip spots like Walmart, that the company will (naturally) be unveiling the new handset in January at Macworld, and even go so far as to say that leaked photos of the device should be surfacing in the next couple of days -- we'll be keeping our eyes peeled. Check out another couple of tantalizing case renders after the break.

i'd rather they made one with a physical keyboard than a smaller 3g-less iphone

I'd rather they make an iphone with mms, cut and paste, video recording, flash support, better battery life, a more resilient case, mpg/avi support and text to speech based GPS directions.

Those are the biggest complaints about my phone.

Don't get me wrong, I still love my phone. Some of the stuff I listed is simply a firmware update that is needed and I don't know quite why we haven't gotten it yet. They'll probably add some in the next iphone.

Watch it set on fire in the case in a nice blue fire since its a mac product the fire can't be red it has to be unique and stylish so some nice black highlights.

I dunno I prefer Sony's phones to other brands..

Support for EDGE? Maybe this is a way to get around the AT&T agreement and get some phones to other suppliers. *Fingers crossed for T-Mobile*

The photos, the amount of hardware that is going to be packed inside such a case and the fact that there is a new "rumor" out every week. Also, Apple would be a fool to release yet another iPhone variant without first fixing/tweaking it's current revisions.

A sh!t storm of bad PR would ensue.

and it nails the phone function perfectly. It's the nicest phone I've ever had, I would just like improvements. It would be an awfully boring product if it was only a phone.

well. then the phone that's plugged into the wall at home is the most boring thing in the world. man, i don't know how people got through the boredom all those years. growing up if i had known that i didn't have to deal with a boring old phone in a wall jack i think life would've been so much easier.

I don't get this philosophy. You're on a forum dedicated to blu-ray discussing high-def movies and possibly games. It's technology pushing the envelope yet you want to rest on your laurels with a phone?

My father in law wants a cell phone that simply makes and receives phone calls. He doesn't want a camera, doesn't want a color screen and doesn't want text messaging. If you're that way too that's fine but the many people want an all-in-one device to handle whatever needs they have.

http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/29/w...e-iphone-nano/

Adding to a small stack of rumors about a supposed iPhone nano, case-maker Vaja today quietly added the category to its website (pictured after the break). Frankly, we're not sure what to think. There are a number of ways in which Apple could produce a cheaper phone or alter its subsidy deals, so the idea of an iPhone that's simply smaller makes very little sense. Yet, here we are showing off the site of a reputable accessory manufacturer with a brand new phone listed -- ostensibly just a teensy version of the iPhone 3G. Of course, this is probably just rumor, speculation, lies, corruption, signs of an unquenchable thirst for power, and a glimpse at the machinations behind one of the greatest conspiracies mankind has ever known. So, we're posing the question to the biggest brains of all: the Engadget reader. Is Apple working on an iPhone nano?
