Default Let's hope my new BR doesn't fail like HD-DVD.

I just bought the Sammy BD-P1200, and so far it works flawlessly. It gives the BD picture Samsung should have given us from the start. I'm not in love with the shining blue light on the front of the player when the movie's playing, but since I don't know what to do about it, I'll learn to live with it. (Although, if anyone has any suggestions on how to eliminate or mute it, I sure would appreciate hearing from you.)

I just hope to God that it's more reliable than the Toshiba HD-A1 HD-DVD player I also own. After the usual numerous firmware updates, it was working fine for a while, and now it's gone completely bonkers, with endless freezes and sound miscues. Since I've had it less than a year, the repair work is free, but I suppose I have to pay the postage to Massachusetts.

Now, you would think Samsung's second-gen player would be pretty much free of defects, and I just hope I can rely on it. If that thing breaks down too, I won't have anything to watch movies on. I might have to go out and get a life. Or even learn how to read again. It shouldn't be hard for you to understand my situation. So I beg of you all, pray for me. Pray for my Sammy.

AD,

11 days and many hours on mine with nary a problem. Now you can enjoy the BD movies you've been denied 'till now.

Fingers crossed!

I got the PS3, no problems and I've heard it has faster loading times than Sony's other model.

I kinda like the little blue light that comes from my PS3. Kinda makes me feel like its more "upper class" like one of those high end luxury cars that have a dim blue light in the cabin while you're driving.

In other words, that "little blue light" means "fancy", "swanky", "cool", and "who's your daddy?!".

LOL

Blue Led's are definitely in these days......reminds me of some of the Krell products with it.

Black electrical tape works wonders if you are too distracted by the light.

The BDP-1000 didn't have a dimmer for the blu-lights...just the LCD panel which was useless since it was totally outshined by the blu ones. Hopefully they learned with this new model.
