Default Pioneer 42" plasa, hdmi connection - HELP

Hi guys,

New to the forum.

Really stressed and hoping you could help.

I thought it would be a nice surprise for my boyfriend for his Christmas if I got him a Sony S350 blu ray dvd player as a present. The other night he told me that the HDMI connection on our plasma tv had not been working properly for a while and he thinks we need to get a part replaced. He still does not know that i have bought the DVD player and I want to try to get this problem sorted out.

What I want to know is this: is there any way that I would be able to check if is the HDMI connection or whether he just has a faulty cable? If not, can anyone recommend anyone in the Glasgow area who could repair it and what the costs might be? It's taking me forever to get through to Curry's digital.

At the moment, we play our DVDs on a cheap player using a SCART connection. Although this works fine, the picture is slightly off to the right hand side, and you can actually see another frame starting to appear ont he screen. that's the best way I can think of to describe it. Maybe you'll know what I'm talking about.

Thanks very much.
