Default Cuba Gooding Jr.'s recent movies

Anyone kinda bummed that Cuba Gooding Jr. has been in so many bad movies lately? The man's got an oscar! And most of his recent films have been bad direct-to-dvd releases. I don't care if he does small movies, but at least good ones would be nice. Wonder why he isn't really in high demand anymore.

Cuba Gooding is a great talent that keep taking foolish roles. My three favs for him are Radio, A Few Good Men and Jerry Maguiere. However, he was also in Norbit .

You can only choose from the roles you are being offered. Being a black actor in Hollywood isn't like being just and actor in Hollywood. They seem to have a taste for only one or two at a time and once you're out, it's hard as hell to get back in. Will Smith and Denzel Washington dominate the A-list, and the B-list is pretty much run my Common and Taye Diggs. Remember how fast Omar Epps and Mekhi Pfeiffer both dissapeered from the movie world? Now both of them play doctors on TV.

I want to see Shadowboxer. Read positive reviews and it has a another first class actor - Helen Mirren.

I liked him in American Gangster and Boyz in the Hood. Besides that, I really don't care 4 him. I didn't like him in Norbit, but that movie was funny as he11. Denzel is the man though. I try to catch all of his movies.

He was good in Linewatch which was a direct to video release.

It wasn't an excellent movie, but it was good.

I don't necessarily agree with that. You win an Oscar and typically, good roles present themselves. It seems to me he made some bad choices post-Oscar, and that's why he is ultimately out of the spotlight now. But for every good, challenging role he chose(Radio, Men of Honor, etc.) he chose a shitty, paycheck role (Boat Trip, Snow Dogs, Rat Race).
And as far a black actors are concerned, the two you mentioned (Smith and Washington) are marquee actors. Gooding Jr. is a fine actor, but he's just not a leading man( with limited exception). IMHO.

I liked him in American Gangster, and recently rewatched Judgement Night for the first time in forever, him and Piven and Leary are pretty fun in that.

And yet you have Don Cheadle, Morgan Freeman, and Samuel L. Jackson.

I think you're just trying to inject racism into it when it just comes down to Cuba Gooding Jr. choosing handful of bad roles and getting typecast into that kind of performer.

I don't think Mekhi Phifer is a good actor. That's just my opinion. But I agree with Sep's additional African American stars.

Cuba was killed with "SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!" Sad but true Jerry Maguire made his stardom and killed it all in one line.

I still think Gooding would be great as Colonel Rhodes in Iron Man.
