Default Take-Two: PS3 is Biggest Revenue Generator

The source.

Quote:
Take-Two list the PlayStation 3 as its biggest revenue generator on the publishing side, with 35% of the quarterly take. That beats out the Xbox 360, which brought in 28% of its publishing dollars, and the Wii, at 11%.

For the entire fiscal year, Take-Two brought in $1.5375 billion in revenue, with $97.1 million in net revenue.
It seems that ALL the big 3rd party publishers have reported making more money on the PS3 than other platforms.

I don't trust Kotaku, but that's good news.

Still don't trust them, though.

Was Bioshock released on the 360 last fiscal year for them?

I don't trust Kotaku. I trust Take-Two's financial report, though. As mentioned in the OP, this is not an isolated case. We have seen the financial reports of SEVERAL major 3rd party publishers that have said this throughout the year.

You know what would be sweet? If someone would collect all of those reports and then post them into a single thread/post.

Michael Pachter was saying that there's something funky with EA's financials, that's why the PS3 is so far ahead.

Ubisoft makes more sense, since it's more European based, however, they also released Haze, a PS3 exclusive, during that time.

EA's doin' "something funky", huh? That's a good explanation. I guess Ubisoft and Konami are doing "something funky" too, huh?

I said what Ubisoft had going for them (Europe and Haze). It's obvious enough what Konami had going for them.

EA was something about deferring revenue to another quarter. Not sure why.

I don't know why this is such a big deal. The 360 has a larger install base and has a higher attach ratio. Publishers should be making more money off of that platform.

EA has been reporting greater revenue on the PS3 for quite a few quarters. That would mean "deferring revenue to another quarter" STILL wouldn't explain that (even if what you said was true).

It's well known that MS charges a lot more for games to be on their platform than Sony does. I guess you didn't take that into account.

I'm just wondering about that 7%. I imagine FIFA does a lot better in Europe while Madden does a lot better in the US for EA.

I thought the PS3 was a Blu-ray player and noone used it as a game console? (yeah, I heard this so much during the war)

2 quarters higher.
I'm taking a financial analysts word over how EA does their financials over you, sorry.

Here's a comparison of 3rd party sales on all 3 platforms.

That comparison was drawn up by Nintendo. You don't think that might spin things just a little bit?

Plus, it doesn't really say much to the topic at hand, since it appears to be tracking total software sales across all publishers without accounting for revenue or sales from any single publisher.

Also, given that chart, it's impressive how much better 360 is doing than Wii if you look at software attach rate. The Wii, with nearly twice as many units sold, only has slightly higher total software sales.

What does Nintendo have to lose or gain by saying who's ahead of who between Sony and Microsoft? Plus it's NPD data, not Nintendo's.

It does have something to say about the topic at hand though. 3rd party software sells better on the 360. It has more users on it, it's expected.

Also, the Wii at that point didn't have twice as many units sold (still doesn't). I believe it was just starting to get ahead of the 360 in NA (thus the NPD numbers). It's at about 12million to 15 million for the Wii right now.
