Default Superman Score

These two songs are incredible. I like the first one best. What are you thoughts of what is arguably the best theme music ever?

Just listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k41Ed...eature=related

Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones to me are still the best movie themes ever composed...but Superman does give me chills, I will never be able to understand how someone can write music like that. John Williams is my all time favorite composer!

edit: I own the Superman Returns (newest one) soundtrack, wonderful score plus I haven't even seen the movie, just saw a trailer for the movie, loved the music and thus bought the score

Does John Williams have black keys on his piano? What does he have against using anything but a C major scale? Has anyone else noticed that you can play all of his music using only the white keys?

No way. You need a violin to play his Schindler's List songs.

"Rules" is such a subjective term.

If you were to say it 'rules the world' you'd be wrong.

If you were to say that it 'rules the Uwe Boll section of Blockbuster' then you'd be absolutely correct.

One of the main reasons I paid a semi-premium for the lossless version of Superman Returns was for the score. I feel like every time I watch the film, though, I like it a little bit less. Still don't have a bad thing to say about Routh, though. I really hope they keep him.

John Williams should really have come out of retirement to score Superman Returns, may have made it a bit better. John Ottman is a hack (what is he? a composer or an editor? cause he proves you can't be both).

John Williams isn't retired. He just did Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

That is, see the old one, and not the new one. The new one is a piece of crap in my opinion.

This is plain wrong. John Williams writes some of the most harmonically complex music of all film composers. Some themes alone may be lacking chromatic notes, but if you look at the harmonization, there is a lot going on. And donīt let me start on all the chromatically intense scoring of action sequences etc. I have read the scores of a lot of his soundtracks.

The greatest theme music in movie history. For the complete original scores to all four of the original Superman movies on cd, check out the following boxset. It is awesome in its thoroughness. The book included details on every single selection and individual piece of music.
