Funny GameStop Story

So Im in GameStop last night and there is this dorky red headed teenage boy who is trying to get his dad to buy him an Xbox 360.

The dad is mulling over the 3 Skus and first asks the boy whats the difference between the Arcade and Premium Xbox Skus. The boy looks at the boxes, has absolutely no clue and goes, the expensive one comes with 2 games. Understanble to think that.

Then the dad sees the $399 sticker of the Elite, however the $399 is covering all except the letter "E" on the word Elite.

He says, "What is Xbox 360 E and why is it so expensive!"

The teenage boy goes, "Oh! Xbox 360 E that comes with Internet and Better graphics"

It comes with Internet? what!?!?! like is the interent in the box?

Kid had one thing right though, as I was leaving the store I heard him tell his Dad that PS3 was the ultimate thing to buy, but it was really expensive.

I really wanna make a motivational poster.

the other one I had about 6 months ago that was just classic was these kids were looking at Nintendo DS stuff. They were both probably about 11 or 12 years old.

One of them looks at the other and goes, "Dang! This thing has all the tight games! This thing has Eragon!"

There are people all over who simply have no friggin clue about technology. I got off the phone with someone earlier this morning who said that the internet is down--the WHOLE internet--because she can't get to talbots.com.

Going over a few things with her, she realized the mistake...she must have bumped her computer and knocked the internet out, because the cable (ethernet) wasn't plugged in.

I hate when people get my direct number.

Neither the kid who wants the console nor the dad who has to pay for it, have any clue what they are getting in to.
I just hope for them that they did not purchase a system, plug it in at home and get the red ring of death within an hour, then think to themselves, dang should have went with the PS3

It's just something some people (with too much time on their hands) do to annoy employees at GameStop.

Specifically, you are supposed to call and ask when the new Battletoads game for the Wii is coming out. The game doesn't exist, so the employee is clearly confused, and says they never heard of it. Then you keep asking them over and over, and eventually the employee will probably hang up.

Since GameStop employees seem to be as nerdy as the people who would do the prank call, I'm sure most (but certainly not all) have caught on to the gimmick by now.

RROD within in hour on a new console? thats pushing it.

now whats not pushing it is that the kid gets an arcade for xmas.

then he finds out he can actually go online with an arcade, so he purchases a $50 xbla subscription.

however, he needs to buy an ethernet cable or a wifi adapter to hook the thing into the interent, because the arcade comes with nothing that enables to user to connect.

so hes finally online. all the guys are talking, but he can't cause guess what he doesn't have a headset. time to go out and buy one of those.

his favorite game comes out with some DLC, but sorry no space for it, time to go out and buy an HDD.

finally he goes over to his friends house. wow! his xbox looks so much better than my crumby arcade. is it because i have the arcade? nope. time to go buy some better cables, because the arcade only comes with RCA ones, like ps3 but none the less more cost to your supposedly $199 console.

in the end you would have been so much better off going with the Pro or Elite.

well, from the tone of his fathers voice in regard to the 360 Elite (or E as he put it), there was no way that kid was going to get a $400 console for xmas.

so he probably viewed PS3 as expenisve, as well as the Elite.

If I worked for gamestop I would told them that we sold out of Battletoads vs Mario just seconds ago apparently people wanted a m rated wii game who would have thought.. and then hang up...

Or you could just tell them that Battletoads hasn't been released yet, but they could come in and check out cameltoads.
