With games taking up 16GB or more space on a disc if Sony discontinued the Blu-ray drive in the PS3 then they would have to place a HD-DVD drive in the PS3 or in the middle of the game the machine would have to pause so that one could insert a second DVD-ROM disc.

Sony has shipped over 6 million PS3 machines and we should be getting a press release soon from Sony to verify the worldwide shipments.
