Default Your favorite comic book. Then and Now?

I grew up with Spidey, felt like I knew the man behind the mask (Peter Parker). In many ways I related to him, understood his plight. I guess growing up we're all in search of a hero. Comics, for me, back in the 80's were flourishing: Secret Wars, X-Men, Daredevil and Spiderman were really branching out. Who can forget the emergence of Todd McFarlane the comic world. Whats more is who would have known the impact he would have on the comic world. Noone had ever seen artwork like this. Today, while I don't believe comics still hold that same magic as my teenage years i still find them enjoyable. THE MAXX by Sam Keith renewed my faith in Comics ability to, "root for the underdog." Currently I am wrapped up with Detective Richard Fell. If you like comics and you haven't read FELL your missing a real treat. I'm also digging KICK ASS which was recommended by the store GEEK! What about you guys any comic readers?

Now that I have read The Watchmen again after about 15 years, I must say this has got to be my all time favorite. The story is so much deeper than I could have imagined all those years ago.

Other favorites also include Marvel Zombies, Punisher, Sandman.

I grew up with John Byrne's X-Men, Frank Miller's Daredevil, Walt Simonson's Thor and George Perez's Teen Titans.

I stopped collecting comic books when I went to college.

Hmmm, I wonder what my favorite comic book was growing up...there are so many heroes to choose from. I will say I always loved the Justice League of America and the Avengers. What is better than a bunch of heroes teaming up to fight evil together?

I grew up with The Amazing Spider-Man. Had every issue from #15 and up. I was a picky collector. Every issue had to be in mint condition (perfect spine, gloss ect). It took me 8 years to build my collection, going to several conventions and comic book stores. Do they even have those anymore? LOL. I stopped collecting after reading issue #252 (The black costume). Never read a comic book again.

I used to be be a huge comic book geek back in the late 80's and 90's.I remember walking into a news stand in Queens NY and picking up a copy of Watchmen glance thru it and putting it back thinking it was just another limited series...well now I know.

I try to jump back into comics a few years ago and I was totally lost with characters I used to love as a kid Spiderman,Superman and Batman just to name a few..there origins have been change...Superman is no longer the person from Krypton, Spiderman secret identity is know...its just different from what I grew up with.

Now i just go for the graphic novels or the collected editions of a storyline.

As a kid I loved Marvel Comics, especially Spiderman, The Hulk, Fantastic Four and Daredevil. My favorite artists were Gene Colan, John Romita Sr., and John Buscema. I also liked the earlier work of Jack Kirby. I also loved reprints of the old EC MAD comics (before it became a magazine).

Later, as an adult I loved the comics parody Megaton Man, and Spumco's COMIC BOOK, featuring George Liquor and Jimmy the Idiot Boy. I also enjoyed Eightball by Dan Clowes.

lately I've been reading reprints of old EC horror and sci-fi comics.

Then...depends on which "then" you're referring to.

In the 70's I read the Hulk. In the 80's it was Transformers, X-Men, and Hulk. Dabbled some in Superman and Batman.

In the 90's I read mostly X-Men and Hulk

Took a break in the mid-ish 90's right after the Age of Apocalypse wrapped up.

Came back in 2000 with Ultimate Spider-Man, Uncanny X-Men (right around the time of Claremont's second attempt...pitiful, really...), tried Hulk but couldn't get into it. Preacher, Ex Machina, the Walking Dead, Y: The Last Man, Punisher, tried the Avengers books for a while, some Daredevil...

Now, I read pretty much the same things as when I started back up again in 2000.

Y: The Last Man showed a lot of potential and then lost its luster. I noticed their still putting out new copies. Maybe I should try it again

Read Chosen. It's a great short story. He also did Red Son about Superman landing and growing up in Communist Russia.
