Default meridian receivers

There is this guy that wants to sale me his meridian receiver. Its about 2 years old. I know this is a really high end brand, but is it good though? I don't know much about receivers, as the one I currently using is about 5 years old! I heard you can upgrade it right? Someone told me that you can upgrade these when new technology comes out so you don't have to guy buy a new one? Maybe I'm mistaken. I just want to get more info on it by those who have own it before. I mainly watch movies not really into listening to music at home. Is it a good receiver for movies?

Meridian is incredibly expensive for what it is. Don't know which model, but here are a couple of reviews...I wouldn't pay any more for it than I would a high end Pioneer or Marantz, there's just no reason to do it.
