Default Is the LG player the only multi-region Blu-ray player?

I remember reading how one of the LG BD players allowed you to change the region code of the player. At least I think thats what I read. Or it just plays all regions. What model is this and are there any others that have this option?

The BH200 from LG is a combo format player that can be hacked through remote codes to make it region free. This link at AVS will explain more about it.

There could be the chance that the new OPPO player coming out could be region free but those are just whispers at this point.

Each disk will have a region code on the back of the case. I.e. If you have bought a disk from the UK I believe it should have a picture of a glode with the number 2 on it. This means the disk can only play on blu/dvd players from this region.

Multi region is the player can play any disk from around the world. So if you had a European player that was multi region, you could also buy disks from America, Asia etc.

But to answer the op's question, no the LG is not the only player that is multi region. I have just ordered the sonyS550 multi region version.

Your talking about mutli-region for DVD right? not Blu-Ray?

Pretty much all Blu-Ray players here in NZ can be made Multizone for DVD at an electronic shop for no cost (with proof of purchase).

Im not sure to be honest. When I went into the shop I was quoted for a multi region version and a normal version. I was persuaded by the rep that the multi region version was worth the extra money. I do hope he ment it was multi region blu ray and not DVD.

Hmm I hope its not something along the lines of them physically altering the appearance of the player. Like adding a switch in the back of it to manual change between regions. I've seen stuff like that done before and I hate it. Hopefully its nothing more an unobtrusive software hack.

the BH200 is the only Remote Code DVD/BluRay PAL/NTSC MultiRegion Blu-ray player on the market... There's no Region ALL in Blu-ray and when you select Region B the machine switch in PAL (so you have to have a pal display fri 1080i material), but yeah it's the only one..

The majority of Blu-ray releases worldwide are encoded in 1080p/24. So as long as I avoided titles that output PAL trailers upon startup and whatnot I should be fine. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Actually for Bluray it is no longer numbers but letters. For the UK and all of Europe we have been allotted the letter B.

That's been shot down already. Not happening.

IMHO, i don't know why anyone would buy an Oppo if it weren't region-free.
