Default PS3 Music Settings Recommendations

Hey guys, I am about to rip my music CDs onto the PS3 and I was wondering what music settings would you guys recommend that will give the best quality?

AAC, MP3, ATRAC - ?
Crossfade Playback - ?
Audio CD Output Frequency - ?
Bitmapping - ?

I have ripped my music CDs onto my desktop using Windows Media Audio Variable Bit Rate, however, it seems that the PS3 does not offer VBR.

Thanks.

AAC 320 is what I like to use...

would you notice any improvement over MP3 320? I guess thats subjective.

On paper AAC is the better choice but takes up more space.

Default Aac?

Is AAC portable to music devices or is it only MP3?

not sure, I guess youd have to check on the device abilities.

Default Other Settings?

What about the other settings? If I chose AAC, what bitrate would you recommend? I read articles saying that anything above 192kbps is hardly noticeable unless your ears are "tuned" in to the difference? What about the bitmapping?

I rip my CD's to the PS3 using MP3 and 320kB's, then tranfer to flash drive -->, I tunes, then Iphone. I personnally can tell a difference between the 128 I tunes download and the 320, thats why I buy the CD and rip it! Just keep in mind that it will take more space on your MP3 player at the higher bit rate. Depending on your earphones you use you may not be able to distinguish between the two. I have a set of Bose noise cancelling headphones.

From my testing, 192 VBR AAC is the "sweet spot".

Default WAV Files

Hey, my music CD collection is ripped onto my PC hard-drive via Windows Media Player in the WAV format and I was wondering if the PS3 is capable of playing this particular type of file or do I have to convert it to MP3, etc?

Really? I thought MP3 was a larger format (and I'm assuming the MP3 and AAC are both ripped to the same bitrate or whatever).

That's always been the thing I've heard about the Ipods and it holds x amount of songs or whatever. It's based in part on the format being AAC. it's a smaller format, so it takes up less space on the Ipod, thus you having more room for other music.

I could be wrong though.

A 192Kbps AAC file is the same size as a 192Kbps MP3 file. At identical bitrates, an AAC file will sound slightly better, since AAC is a more efficient codec than MP3.
