Hello,
I am new to surround sound and was going to set up an entire new system. I just bought the samsung 52 inch lcd tv and the samsung bdp2500 blue ray player. now i am thinking about the sound was as i did not want to spend too much money was looking at the ONKYO hts-7100 system. The question i had was will the AV reciever and the speakers play the 7.1 sound comming form the blue ray. In short does the ONKYO system output audio via HDMI 1.3 or does it require a optical cable. Also will the reciever play the sound coming from the TV via the same HDMI cable or do i need some other cable Thanks and any other sugguestions are welcome Thank you |

that system will output hd audio. though you may find cheaper solutions if you look around. check out some sticky threads in these forums. also, if you use hdmi from a player to receviever then out to tv, its one way, youll need to use another cable for audio going to an input on the receiver. going from player to tv then receiver isnt recommended
that receiver is also the onkyo sr 606. you can find them pretty cheap if you look around and then get a seperate speaker system. Last edited by un4gvn94538; 12-28-2008 at 12:53 AM. |

Thank you..
this was my plan, please let me know if it makes sence. I was going to connect my blue ray player and my dish network box to the receiver (onkyo system) and then just output the HDMI from the receiver to the TV. But where i am confused is where does the receiver get the sound from, is it direclty form the dish network box. Thanks in advance. |
