Default Movies coming out on Sundays?

What's the deal with new releases coming out on Sunday lately? I was walking around Target and saw Serenity when it's supposed to be released Tuesday.

There's been a couple titles recently released on Sundays. No idea what the reason could be, other than the studios testing out if certain titles would have quick success if released earlier than usual.

Skip that Sunday business, Sunday is football day. During the football off season who cares, which will not be longer than 16 weeks for the Bears for a long time.

Serenity is due out on Tuesday along with the handful of Paramount titles. I think the stores just put them out by mistake when they restocked the shelves. The bestbuy here by my place had the truman show and last holiday on the shelf but the rest were MIA. I bet if I go back Tuesday they will be out.

Movies are always, for the most part, on Tuesdays. These non-tuesday releases started this fall. I don't think we will see anymore non-tuesday release until next Fall.

Yeah, Dreamworks has been experimenting (at least) with Sunday releases. Kung Fu Panda and Eagle Eye, being two examples.

Sorta makes sense, from a brick-and-mortar consumer standpoint, since store circulars (and the accompanying 'sales') start on Sundays.

It's just a holiday thing.
Best Buy has had Serenity out since Friday, just employees screwing up with blu catalog releases.
Ive managed to get The Mist & Cant Hardly Wait - early in the past because of this.

I know at least Paramount has said they are going to break the traditional "Tuesday" release day and release them when they want to. I mean why do they have to release them on tuesdays anyways? Good for them.

They also released their biggest hit of the year "Iron Man" on a Tuesday.
So they might want to get started on that if true.

Its for the holidays only, trying to get a bust of releases in before xmas. We had Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday release dates in the last 2 weeks. Its good marketing on the studios parts.

Sounds good to me. I was just curious since it had been happening more often.

Our Best Buy had The Truman Show on the shelves. It comes with a $10 mail-in rebate.
