Default Last VHS supplier rolls out final shipment! Says in 3~4 years everything will be Blu

http://www.latimes.com/entertainment...,5852342.story

This bit is funny:

Quote:
"The DVD will be obsolete in three or four years, no doubt about it. Everything will be Blu-ray," Kugler said, anticipating the next resident at his pop culture retirement home. "The days of the DVD are numbered. And that is good news for me."
See ya VHS! Ha. ha.

I'm amazed VCRs are still around. With the advent of recordable DVDs, I thought VHS would of been gone a long time ago.

Actually you would be amazed at some people out there. I work at Radio Shack and we get a bunch of people coming in asking for VCR's and *****ing about how DVD's are garbage and everything should have stayed on VHS. For my own amusement I like to inform them about Blu-Ray, it's rather humerous.

I stayed with my VHS until the spring of 2004 when I got my first DVR with my cable company. Once I got that I truly did not need VHS anymore. I already got rid of most of my VHS films by that time anyway and was using it just to record TV shows. With DVR you only need a DVD recorder for things you might wish to keep.

I bought my last VHS player in 2004. It find it sad that people out there wont have the same movie watching experiences as I did when I was a kid, watching horror movies on VHS was the best.

I am keeping my VCR for the time being. The main reason is that I have a copy of Star Trek: The Motion Picture which is the original non CGI'd version. To the best of my knowledge, it has never appeared on DVD in the UK in it's original theatrical release without all the new CGI stuff added.

Here is hoping a UK reader will prove me wrong and I can ditch the VCR for good !!!

You should transfer that movie to DVD or Blue-ray.

But Kugler, with a sly smile, offered a warning to consumers thinking of putting up shelving to handle their burgeoning libraries.

"The DVD will be obsolete in three or four years, no doubt about it. Everything will be Blu-ray," Kugler said, anticipating the next resident at his pop culture retirement home. "The days of the DVD are numbered. And that is good news for me."
This bit i like a lot a i have told a lot of DVD collectors that they where going to get burned if they don't accept Blu-Ray.

Im going to have a lot of laughs in 4 years at some ppl.

Yes that's true. There is reasoning for old formats because sometimes they don't get re-released as the same film down the line. For example the original "E.T." if I recall correctly...

I very rarely use my VCR anymore... In fact it's not even hooked up to my Plasma.
