is this a good sub for the price? All of the reviews are positive on Amazon. I currently have a 10" Onkyo sub that shakes the entire house but I'm selling it along with the receiver and other speakers as a package and so I need a new sub.

I currently have a Sony STR-DG920 amp and Tuesday my new Polk Monitor 50s and CS2 speakers are coming in. If I order this sub today or tomorrow, it will come in at the same time thanks to Prime, so I'm looking for something that will knock my socks off for around $200 and from what I have found, this sub is the best bet.

I too was looking at this sub, but could not find any reviews other than amazon. So I went with a Premier Acoustic PA-120, because of the good reviews on avs. It was only 230 shipped.

BIC is a great speaker company. If you want more information on all their subs go to the website. Just type Bic America in google. I think they have reviews for all of their speakers.

You won't be let down at all with this sub. All of their $200 - $300 subs produce top of their class performance.

It's replacing the venerable H-100. *edit* Looks like it's $499- thought I saw it cheaper than that.

going for $229 on ebay shipped, I just prefer a down firing sub. I heard they tend to have better "punch"

Mike Embers over at Acoustic Sound Design has the PA-120 ranked over the H-100 and under the VK-12 while all are made on the same line, at the same company. I like my PA-120, rocks!...

the sub I have now is 200 watts and that is enough for the neighbors to be able to hear it, having a 1000 watt peak would cause them to experience an earthquake, haha.

As of right now I'm going to order the PA-120 tomorrow, going to take longer to ship, but from the reviews on AVS it should be well worth it.

Yeah, the PA-120 looks like a good purchase. I'm leaning towards that or the VK-12 since I found a decent deal on it. Good thing with that PA-120 is that it's cheap enough that I could get a second one in the near future and not sweat it.

Hrm... decisions....

*edit* Read some more and ended up going with the PA-120. Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll hopefully get it near my birthday now. While cashback may be dead on ebay, I still used $78 from previous purchases to help assuage the cost. I'm psyched- going from a 50w sub is a big step!

Well... I ended up making out like a bandit. I threw my RM6750 onto Craigslist for $155 late last night and a guy called this morning and I've already sold it. Paid $199 for it originally, so not too bad of a loss considering it's $175 on Newegg currently. 'Course, I'm subless until the PA-120 arrives later this week, but I actually ended up netting a new sub and gaining $10 to boot between that and my previous live.com cashback speaker purchases.

Brings me closer to picking up a second sub if I like it or see a need. Between all of this and the positive reviews on AVS, I'm pretty stoked.

I went to a shop today that had the VK-12 in stock for $299 with tax and I can pick it up tomorrow. So I'm really confused as what to do. From the reviews the PA-120 is an amazing sub for the price but still compared as sitting inbetween the VK-12 and the H100 (which they had plenty in stock as well but for $229). Then they had a F-12 I think it was going for $199 with tax.

So PA-120 or VK-12, so confused *sigh*

If I could get the VK-12 for $299, I would. I don't believe the difference is worth the $100 more I was going to get it for, but for $70, I'd do it were I in the same situation.

I'm going to stop by there tomorrow and pick it up and give it a try. In the store it sounded way too "boomy" even the quiet scenes were shaking the area. So if it doesn't work out I'll just take it back and order the PA-120. I guess to me it is also worth the extra $70 because I can have it in my room tomorrow vs having to wait for the PA-120 to come in. So it is like paying $70 for 350 more watts and overnight shipping.

Got a UPS tracking # and delivery date of the 9th- one day before my bday! I'm hopeful but won't be too broken up if it arrives later. I'm sub-less though and would like to have a sub again!

based on how you like yours and how the VK-12 handles at my house I might switch over to a PA-120

1 hour and 36 minutes until I get to go pick mine up, this day is taking a long time to end

Here's a shot of a guy over at AVS that has them in black. I think it looks pretty snazzy. I'm sure all three are really similar, what with them supposedly being made on the same assembly line.

well I have the VK-12 hooked up and watched one of the battle scenes in Master and Commander. With it being late here I can't crank it up, so I had to turn the sub down and even with it down it was shaking the house

It doesn't way the 60 lbs like the PA-120 does so I was shocked that it doesn't bounce around or anything. My Polks are coming in tomorrow and whether my neighbors agree with it or not when I get home and set it up, it is going to get a run for its money so I can get a feel for what I actually have

I just did a bass test with the volume almost at 0 on my computer and it was approaching 20hz and starting to make stuff on the other side of the house rattle so I had to stop, I've been playing with it at low volumes and it sounds great. My old sub would shake my room but really didn't have much SQ but with this sub it actually hits and sounds really good at the same time. In comparison my old sub would tap you on the shoulder, this sub gives you a Chuck Norris round house kick to the face!

Meh, my sub still hasn't shipped. I contacted the "company" and the guy (Mike, if you've been keeping up with the AVS threads) said it'd get shipped today. So far, I'm not really concerned but based on others' experiences I am a little nervous about the transaction. Hopefully it's all for naught.

he will ship it, I wouldn't be concerned with that part, just make sure to fully inspect the sub before hooking it up. The biggest complaint I saw was the condition of the sub's shell being scratched up as if it were a store display.

Good point. I had read that about one sub. Grabbed some more pics (uploaded them here this time) of the PA-120. Maybe I should start up a thread about it once I get it.

Finally showing shipping as of 9am this morning. He may have dropped it off after hours Tuesday. Not too bad of a turnaround.
