It's been mentioned on the webb - supposedly from an interview with Executive Producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse - that there will not be re-releases of Season 1 & 2 on Blu-ray.

Instead, the complete series will be released as a (lavish) box set on Blu-ray sometime after the final season (season 6) airs in 2010.

That's actually not entirely true. They said you can count on a lavish boxset coming out, not that there would never be a release of seasons 1 and 2. I would imagine there will be a boxset as well as separate releases of seasons 1 and 2. Either way, there has been no confirmation from Disney who are in the know. The executive producers ultimately have no say. In fact they said Lost wouldn't be out on blu ray any time soon about a month before season 3 was announced.

I would take that. Thanks for the info

According to Susanne Ault, they did say there wouldn't be individual re-releases of Seasons 1 & 2 on Blu-ray.

But yes, they're Executive Producers and not folks at Buena Vista Home Entertainment, so who knows what the future holds. I wouldn't mind them being wrong.

Watched a movie a couple weeks ago and they had a preview for the first two seasons of LOST on Blu. Sad, I remember that preview more than the movie it preceded.

Well Susanne Ault isn't too swift, in my opinion. #1, the producers of the show don't have the final say on how their show is distributed on home video. #2, they are just speaking in hypotheticals and what they expect will happen. And #3, even in their hypothetical they never say that seasons 1 and 2 won't be released separately! They say they don't expect them soon, and that they do expect a large full series boxset at the end - NEITHER of those statements say that there won't ever be separate seasons 1 and 2 sets. So good job putting words in their mouths, Susanne!

And on a completely related note, hey-oh, release news for seasons 1 and 2 on Blu-ray!

Seems Disney is saying at CES that Lost: Seasons 1 and 2 are due on Blu-ray in 2009! Fantastic news.

I got Lost: S3 and S4 on BD for Christmas, so when they release S1 and S2, I wish they would throw in a regular slipcover for S3.

Sweet! Glad seasons 1 and 2 will be coming out shortly. Just finished watching the season 3 BD and should be receiving Season 4 in a couple days just in time for viewing before the 21st.

I hope they either dump the slip cover of come with the nice hard case like season 3. I also wonder if they will have additional bonus features that weren't included in the DVD sets I have.
